Character, main and offspecs:
What is your main spec and why?
Frost is currently my main spec.Over the years I have changed characters and specs always for the good of my guild based on what they had most need for.
I started in Vanilla/TBC/wotlk as a Holy priest(first char) and loved raiding as a healer through those expansions especially with the difficulty level of some of the fights and the complex nature of healing back then with downranking spells and Regen rates when not casting etc. Then after all the complexity and varied play of those expansions Cataclysm brought a new healer playstyle and I felt it was time for a change. I then mained Frost DK for Cata/MoP and really enjoyed the switch to melee DPS and the competitive nature of the DPS role as a whole. I found that I pushed myself more when I had that competition.
In WoD I changed to Resto Druid based on the needs of the guild early in the expansion due to a serious lack of healers. As we progressed further the healer situation resolved itself and wanting to go back to DPS I played Balance druid. I then finished off that expansion and raided well into nighthold as Balance Main.
During nighthold, the needs of the guild again provoked a change of character. Having 3 other balance druids in our roster and only 1 Bloodlust class I switched to Frost mage.
(p.s sorry for the wall of text about mainspec but you did ask why, and its a long story : / .... )
Which talents do you use and which changes (if any) do you make for each specific encounter of the most current raid?
So currently with my gear-set and playstyle there are only two talents that I change based on encounter.
I play LW/IF/TV. The only two talents that I switch regularly are tier 4 and tier 6. Alternating between splitting ice/frozen touch(not often as frozen touch isn't great right now) and between Unstable magic / Arctic Gale (depending how often and how many adds are up during the fight I can drop a blizzard on.
I have played around with Glacial spike the other competitive end tier talent but have found Thermal Void gives me most gain with my current gear and playstyle.
To what extent do you play each of your offspecs?
(i.e. Do you use them in raids / are you up to date with knowledge, practice and interface / do you have any artifact power and legendaries / do you enjoy them / would you be willing to make them your main spec if beneficial for the guild)
I have concordance and decent legendaries in arcane. I have not progress raided as arcane at all, just played it casually in alt raids/PuGs so I would need to do a lot of work to get it into a decent enough place if it were required.
I haven't played much fire mage outside of leveling. I have decent non-spec specific legendaries so I guess if it was needed I could also look into building concordance on that.
Do you have any significant alts?
I have a 920 ish Balance druid that also has concordance and legendaries in Resto as linked above. I am fine playing either character tbh depending on your preference/need.
I also have a fair few other specs but not much higher than 900 ilvl so for those to be able to mythic progress i'd need to put some work into them.
Did you ever change classes and do you consider doing so again in the future?
As answered above in my wall of text for mainspec. I have changed classes and I am willing to change classes if it is required but would not request to do so just because I wanted to play something else.
Equipment and interface:
What are the specifications of your computer?
So I have a custom gaming PC:
Intel i7 - 3.6ghz
Nvidia GTX 1070
In 4-6 weeks time I will go back to using that but right now I'm raiding on an older i7 gaming laptop with a gtx 760. It plays most games on medium at 30-40 fps so still isn't horrible. I do miss my custom build though I'm just in the process of moving house so its packed at the moment.
Do you have headphones and a microphone?
What is your latency on Kazzak-EU?
Which addons do you use?
I use DBM / ERT / Details / Bartender / Vuhdo / Weakauras / some other quality of life non-raid addons.
Can you link a video of one of your bosskills (with your PoV)? If not, please upload a screenshot of your UI.
Do you click abilities or do you use keybindings (or a combination of both)?
Do you use any macros? (e.g. mouseover macros)
Yeah i have mouseover macro's for Vuhdo as well as its built in spells. Mainly used on Druid for Innervate/CR/healing. I have modifier macro's for some spells and some CD's, Health pots/stones etc.
Raiding experience and guild history:
What guilds were you in before, why did you join them and why did you leave them?
This is going to be a long one as have been raiding a long time...
I originally started in Vanilla but I started late into the game at the very end of the expansion. Upon hitting max (like a month after starting) I joined a few 10 man gearing runs with the guild I was in back then and had my first true experience of raiding in Molten Core. It was a clusterfuck. Fun.... but a clusterfuck.
When TBC launched I was fully invested in the game and rushed to max with a group of RL friends that also played. We set up a guild and began farming Kara and stayed at that 10 man level for a while whilst we built up a raid team. I stayed with them all through TBC until the end of Black Temple in the content dark ages and the guild disbanded a month or so before Sunwell was introduced.
I then came back for WOTLK and joined a top 100eu guild called "Volition" (I think) where we raided fairly hardcore 4 nights a week to push through content, I became and officer in there as healing class leader for our loot council. We killed Mimiron Hardmode pre-nerf and ulduar was easily my most successful and most enjoyable raid. I even got a #1 EU rank on my holy priest on Hodir Hardmode which I kept for a fair few weeks.
That guild again disbanded due to ToGC release. We cleared the raid in a couple of weeks and when we had been pushing so hard in ulduar for so long to then clear the next "tier" in such a short time and realise there was no more content for such a long time, everyone burned out.
I missed ICC due to me joining a very casual guild that did not raid and playing super casually after the mass burnout and guild disband.
In Cata I decided to start playing again and went through a few casual guilds to see if I wanted to get back into casual raiding on my old server Azuremyst. Finally an old hardcore raider friend convinced me to join him in Order of Sargeras on Kazzak and I raided with them throughout the Cata expansion as Frost DK. Clearing all content up until SoO. With the Dragon Soul launch the guild master and raid leader of Order of Sargeras stopped playing and the raid team and raid days changed which meant I could not make them. I dropped to casual and raided with a friends guild through that raid at a much slower pace.
I re-joined the Raid team in Order of Sargeras with the release of MoP and raided with them through MSV HoF and ToES. I also was with them all through normal Throne of Thunder and stopped raiding with the kill of Lei Shen.
I took a break from raiding through SoO as Real life intervened.
I came back for the WoD release and joined a super casual guild that a Real life friend was in Called Drunk as a Skunk became an officer fairly quickly and I raided non stop with them all the way through WoD and into Legion putting loyalty to the guild ahead of guild progression for a long long time.
During the Nighthold raid problems with the guild and lack of raiding caused a close friend of mine to join a mythic raiding guild and he after a few months convinced me to join him in Enter Sun where we progressed through HC clear and 3/9 Mythic.
Enter Sun is now taking a break from raiding and I'm looking for a new mythic raiding guild to join.
Please list all the bosses you have killed when their raid tier was still the cutting edge:
(see optional template below)
Answered what I remember mostly above in my wall of text.
What sources and/or methods do you use to keep your class knowledge up to date?
Mmo-champion / Mage and Druid discord server. Patch notes and PTR testing.
How do you prepare for a new bossfight?
I watch a lot of streams so I tend to have a good knowledge of encounters even before I start to research. I will watch a guide to get a VERY base understanding but have found kill videos and streams give me a much better understanding of a fight.
Why you are applying:
What are your goals in this game?
I just wish to experience content its as simple as that. I want to push myself to really experience mythic raiding and all that wow raiding has to offer. I love being challenged on a super hard boss and my experience killing Demonic Inquisition in Enter Sun pre-nerf just re-ignited my drive for cutting edge content.
Spending so long in a casual HC raiding guild has made me realise what I missed out on and i'd love to get back to raiding with a really good team again.
My mage is and has been undergeared compared to other mythic raiders that I raid with and I have kept pace despite that beating other mages 5-10 ilvls higher than me and never caused any drama about loot. I just look at how I can improve with what I have and maximise my character to better experience content.
What are the reasons why you specifically want to join Rock Paper Scissors?
I've seen your guild name around for quite a while. I want to join Rock Paper Scissors because I'm looking for a consistent guild that is not going to disband or take a break from raiding at the next hurdle they come across. I've done 3/9 mythic and had a few 10-15% wipes on Sisters with Enter Sun. I was looking for a guild that isn't too far further ahead as being boosted through content is not something I enjoy at all. A lot of guilds are seeming to fail out on Mistress and I want to join someone thats not going to do that.
More about you:
Do you have any days or times you're unable to raid?:
I work Shifts so yes some days/times will be a problem for me. Your raid days fit me perfectly as there is no reason I would miss any aside from emergencies/unforseen events.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself as a person?
I think I've typed too much already. This is getting to Epic Novel levels of text to read....
I like to laugh and joke around with guild mates and do fun runs in mythic+ or with alts. I'm a very active player. I think I'm funny which probably means I'm not funny at all...
I'm loyal and honest and I take criticism very well.
What is your proudest moment/achievement in WoW?
The problem with this question is that going back such a long time to WotlK and TBC for me its hard to remember exactly how I felt at the time. Killing Illidan during the BT raid tier was incredible. After so many wipes and a whole expansion of teasing it was just epic. Killing Mimiron Hardmode pre-nerf was the same. With sooooo many guilds struggling on the boss being an officer and coming up with the tactics that allowed us to beat such a hard fight, when it eventually died from what I remember we all were super hyped for hours afterwards.
I think after having casual raided for so long and joining a mythic level guild with Enter Sun, my proudest achievement since then is probably the killing of Demonic Inquisition. Harjitan died too fast and too easily for it to be much of a nerdrage but DI was a bit of a bitch after such a long time HC level raiding and the Quills timer was just WTF.
What is your /played?
across all chars this is a bit depressing...
over 600 days.
216 Days - Priest (Vanilla-TBC-WoTLK main)
110 Days - DK (Cata - Mop main)
92 Days - Druid (WoD / part legion main)
32 Days - Mage (New Legion main)
Anything else you would like to add or explain?
I know I'm probably not at the same level as those you have recruited but I do put a lot into whatever challenge I am given. I have good raid awareness and am a good tactician/strategist in wow. I keep quiet and to myself and try to maximise my own performance.
I hope I can get a trial spot with you guys to prove that.
Also with the guild I'm in taking a break from raiding if theres any specific classes/roles that you require an extra exceptional player I could see if they are interested as well.
