Current situation and recent history:
I started raiding hardcore with Ecology-Kazzak before Nighthold opened. I was quite new in the guild, and the main team was already fixed, so I was happy to bide my time and wait to pass my trial. I was used only for Botanist, and was planned to be used for Elisande but unfortunately life happened and I had to give it up. I am now in a position to commit time to raiding again, but on a lighter schedule.
This means that my character has been largely abandoned for the past nearly 5 months, so will be lacking gear (currently 900, but have 4-set) and am 2 or 3 legendaries behind where I would have been had I not stopped playing. I have started grinding AP and currently sitting at 54 traits. I definitely have the skill to be successful, and all I need to do for now is brush up on NH mechanics and I'm good to go.
The link I have provided to my logs will take you to pre-7.1.5 EN and ToV sections for a general idea of my level of play. This is because Ecology keeps theirs private. If you would like me to make some newer logs in heroic or something, I can do this no problem.
With regards to my main spec, I have been Destro for the entire expansion, at the request of both of my Legion guilds so far and, while Affliction is currently the best spec in NH by some considerable margin, I think it would be a good idea to remain Destro in preparation for ToS. This is mainly because I have no Affliction legendaries, and all Destro ones. But also, the changes coming to Destro (particularly the way mastery will work with Chaos Bolt) mean that it is probably going to become quite powerful again, and its value during progression for bursting down priority adds cannot be understated. Added to that, it is widely expected that Affliction will be nerfed further. Obviously it's not entirely certain how the specs are going to turn out, but I believe sticking with Destro for these reasons would be the right choice.
Despite all of that, I have no problem playing Affliction if the guild wants. I have already started farming legendaries for it and can put more AP into the weapon for Concordance if this is what is required.
Character, main and offspecs:
What is your main spec and why?
Destruction has been my main spec in all raids so far in Legion as it is an extremely powerful progress spec, specifically for nuking down priority adds with effectively no ramp up time whatsoever. This aspect is only to increase in Affliction has been
Which talents do you use and which changes (if any) do you make for each specific encounter of the most current raid?
Set up is largely Backdraft, ELT/Eradication, Demonic Circle, Soul Harvest, Burning Rush, GoServ, Soul Conduit.
Skorpyron - Fire & Brimstone and Go Sac for maximum damage on adds
Spellblade - Cataclysm for nuking animated adds
Tichondrius - (Same as Skorpyron)
Botanist - Wreak Havoc for nuking the lashers, and extra Chaos Bolt shard-refund procs on bosses.
Elisande - Wreak Havoc for adds
Gul'dan - Wreak Havoc for adds
To what extent do you play each of your offspecs?
This expansion (in raids) I haven't touched any spec other than Destro, but I do PvP on an alt with Affliction, and therefore have working knowledge on how to the play it in PvE and am always up to date with changes. I have no legendaries for the spec on my main, but am now farming for them specifically. I do enjoy the spec and would be willing to make it my main if requested by the guild. I don't have Concordance for it yet, but that is easily obtainable at this point.
I haven't touched Demonology whatsoever.
Do you have any significant alts?
None that are anywhere near raid-ready, but I have a mage and druid that have some heroic NH gear from doing split runs.
Did you ever change classes and do you consider doing so again in the future?
I have never changed my main and I probably never will. They would have to reduce damage output to tank-level before I would consider it.
Equipment and interface:
What are the specifications of your computer?
i7-4770K, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060 6GB OC, 250GB SSD
Do you have headphones and a microphone?
What is your latency on Kazzak-EU?
Which addons do you use?
(Raid-specific) Bartender, Shadowed Unit Frames, AngryAssignments, BigWigs, Weakauras, Grid, GTFO, OmniCC, Quartz, Skada, Tidy Plates
Can you link a video of one of your bosskills (with your PoV)? If not, please upload a screenshot of your UI.
My Weakauras showing dps procs show up to the right of my character.
Do you click abilities or do you use keybindings (or a combination of both)?
Every ability or item I need to use in a raid encounter is keybound.
Do you use any macros? (e.g. mouseover macros)
One for DPS CDs (ie Orc racial, Soul Harvest, on-use trinkets)
Mouseover macro for Havocing secondary target
Other situational macros, ie for Helya, 1 macro for each tank to insta-dispel Taint of the Sea.
Raiding experience and guild history:
What guilds were you in before, why did you join them and why did you leave them?
(Disclaimer: The reason I joined each of these guilds is the same as the last - To chase better progress and higher rankings)
eXplicit (Burning Blade) - First raiding guild, doing normal modes and some Heroic. Raided with them all of Wrath and a month or two of Cata first tier. Was Warlock class leader once I got more experience until I left to start raiding in a Heroic guild.
Obsidian (Silvermoon) - First Heroic guild. Unfortunately, the core disappeared after a couple of months, so I finished that tier with....
Decadence (Silvermoon) - After starting normal Firelands with these guys, I was forced to stop playing for personal reasons.
Genesis (Silvermoon) - Raided DS with these guys but, after finishing the tier, my old computer finally gave up and died. I took this opportunity to take a break from WoW and plan a computer upgrade.
Merge (Silvermoon) - Joined in SoO. The guild disbanded during HFC after months of terrible raider attendance and people leaving due to being so fed up with it.
Archetype (Silvermoon - Twisting Nether) - Quickly established my place in the team and things were looking good, with plans being set out for Legion. We transferred to Twisting Nether to enhance recruitment prospects, but we were let down by a few raiders that didn't come over when they said they would, and the guild disbanded. The stress got to the GM, to the point where he just didn't want to suffer it anymore.
Aurora Nox (Kazzak) - I transferred again to this guild which had years of constant raiding history, which was important to me this time, given the problems of the past. Cleared 7/7 2/3 before taking my first steps into more hardcore raiding with...
Ecology (Kazzak) - My only venture into top 25 hardcore raiding. Got some good experience with maintaining 4 characters simultaneously (largely explained above in introduction).
Please list all the bosses you have killed when their raid tier was still the cutting edge:
Wrath of the Lich King: 53
Ulduar: 7 (A guess)
FL: 0 (Took a forced break here)
DS: 8 (Another break after DS was over)
Mists of Pandaria: 43
SoO: 14 (Came back to the game with a new computer)
Warlords of Draenor: 30
BRF: 0 (Forced break)
NH: 1 (Botanist)
What sources and/or methods do you use to keep your class knowledge up to date?
The warlock discord is a gold mine of information on talent/spell changes, BiS lists and tactical discussion, so I spend a lot of time keeping myself updated there. I read logs to get information on fight length to get an idea of the best times to pop my CDs to get the most efficient use from them. I participate in PTR testing of bosses whenever possible. And, of course, I sim my character when I get new gear to get updated stat weights each time.
How do you prepare for a new bossfight?
Pretty much explained in the previous question.
Why you are applying:
What are your goals in this game?
I'm looking for a guild that has good progress, that plays on a lighter schedule (2-3 days, as I can no longer commit to hardcore raiding) and is always looking for improvemwnt. Outside of raiding I may start to push for high rating in 3v3 on my warrior.
What are the reasons why you specifically want to join Rock Paper Scissors?
The raiding schedule suits me to a tee, progress is good and I think I can improve the roster.
More about you:
Do you have any days or times you're unable to raid?:
I'm on every day, so can raid pretty much any time an extra day is added.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself as a person?
Pretty chilled out chap, love my football and a good weekend out with the boys having a laugh and eating kebabs at 4am. And have fond memories of farming Maw of Souls 40 times a day Kappa.
What is your proudest moment/achievement in WoW?
In terms of boss kills, my best feeling was killing Heroic Nefarian after many attempts. Overall my proudest moment was joining a top 25 guild and proving that I was as good as (and better than some of) them.
What is your /played?
Main: 435 days
All chars: 600 days
Anything else you would like to add or explain?
Only what I have added in my introduction. Thanks for reading.
