Character, main and offspecs:
What is your main spec and why? Well I loved being a HPalla back in BC/WotLK... It was only in WoD did I discover how much I loved being a Resto Druid and how much in sync I am playing this class. I just feels like it fits me like a glove... more than any other class and spec I played before.
Which talents do you use and which changes (if any) do you make for each specific encounter of the most current raid?
@15: I've been using Abundance as I have Aman'Thul's Wisdom and Velen's Future Sight. These legendaries allow me to make the best use of Abundance since I'm normally rolling >10 Rejuvs on a raid depending on incoming damage. Having that many Rejuvs up allows me to have instant Healing Touch casts (like a Hpala) for topups or raid mechanics like the absorb shield in Chrono, and/or 100% crit chance Regrowths for mana efficient spot healing. I may switch to Cenarion Ward if the tanks keep dying or there is some raid mechanic the tanks are struggling with in progression. Prosperity is only really viable if I also take Soul of the Forest but this isn't so viable at the moment (more on that below).
@30: Displacer Beast is the obvious choice... Wild Charge if the raid is outdoors... I made a macro where I can switch to travel form and then cast Wild Charge so its like Displacer but with half the CD. Renewal is not really worth it except for very specific situations like the Mage Tower.
@45: For progression fights I prefer Guardian Affinity because it has synergy with Ysera's Gift and allows for situation life saving defence or handling of specific raid mechanics as I can go Bear Form+Barkskin and normally survive plus there is the free healing of Frenzied Regeneration and the additional DPS ticks of Thrash. Feral Affinity is viable for burst DPS on bosses where there is little to no healing at the start. Balance Affinity is next to worthless and I don't use it at all.
@60: This is very situational but I would typically use Typhoon... but any of these talents might be called upon to help raid mechanics.
@75: I run Cultivation because it synergises well with Aman'Thul's Wisdom and Velen's Future Sight, the Garb of the Astral Warden 2 set, the Jacin's Ruse 2 set bonus, my Dreadstone of Endless Shadows trinket (which works like the Etraeus's Celestial Map since Blizz hot fixed it to proc from healing). Of course it handles huge raid wide damage quite well and is free healing but of course requires Rejuv up on most of the raid (which I have thanks to my legendaries). The idea is that when I get huge procs of Mastery... sometimes as high as 7000 to 11,000, the interaction of Mastery between Cultivation and Rejuv will heal for a lot. This is why Soul of the Forest isn't so viable for me at the moment, but maybe in ToS it will with the new set bonuses... we will have to see. As for Incarnation: Tree of Life... well I might use that for M+ and use it with Innervate but I can't see it's use at the moment in raids.
@90: This is quite a situational choice. I will often use Germination due to the synergy with Aman'Thul's Wisdom and Velen's Future Sight, Cultivation and Abundance. Spring Blossoms is also viable but the latest theorycrafters believe it is weak... ironically due to how Joy of Spring modifies it (even though it sounds like a buff). Inner Peace I've had to use on occasion due to weak healing of other raid members, for example the big add transitions in Chrono.
To what extent do you play each of your offspecs?
(i.e. Do you use them in raids / are you up to date with knowledge, practice and interface / do you have any artifact power and legendaries / do you enjoy them / would you be willing to make them your main spec if beneficial for the guild)
I use a glass cannon AoE Balance Build built around Prydaz and Ekowraith for World Quests. As long as Prydaz can shield me from big mob pulls I can nuke them down. This does however mean that I'm nowhere near as good with Balance as I am with Resto because I honestly have done very little investment in raid DPS theorycrafting for my Balance spec. I know this is an area I can improve upon but I'm usually the top raid healer by 200-300k HPS on most fights and so I've had very little actual practice as DPS in progression fights.
Do you have any significant alts? No I only go with my Main in Legion.
Did you ever change classes and do you consider doing so again in the future? Not since I've found RDruid.
Equipment and interface:
What are the specifications of your computer? i7-6700 @ 2.60GHz, 16GB ram, GeForce GTX 960M
Do you have headphones and a microphone? Yes
What is your latency on Kazzak-EU? I haven't checked by my internet speed is good: Ping <1 ms; Download 36.78 Mbps; Upload 15.28 Mbps
Which addons do you use? Elvui for UI, Vuhdo for healing, WeakAuras 2 for keeping track of different things, Skada for meter tracking, DBM to help with raid mechanics, Exorsus Raid Tools to also help with raid mechanics/team notes, Razer Synapse for key mapping between Elvui/WoW and my Razer Orbweaver and Deathadder, Leaflet for Resto Druid custom stat weights on actual boss data.
Can you link a video of one of your bosskills (with your PoV)? If not, please upload a screenshot of your UI. https://1drv.ms/i/s!AhwTVpygfiIzrhIrk_2AuPvVz2Dk
Do you click abilities or do you use keybindings (or a combination of both)? A combination of both using my Razer Orbweaver and Deathadder.
Do you use any macros? (e.g. mouseover macros) Yes but not mouseover macros. I would make macros and keybind them for specific reasons. I mainly click heal using Vuhdo.
Raiding experience and guild history:
What guilds were you in before, why did you join them and why did you leave them?
I started raiding properly at the end of WoD. Before then I was casual on an off since Vanilla. In WoD I did 13/13 HC HFC, 10/13 M HFC when content was current. Since then I just couldn't find a full Mythic team for Legion on my server and it shows with my progress. When it was current content I got 7/7 HC EN, 1/7 M EN, 3/3 HC ToV, 0/3 M ToV. I stayed in my team through EN and ToV out of loyalty but it was really crushing when we just couldn't get 20 good players together for Mythic progress and the kills just never came. It's at this point I switched to a new guild that merged with another team and got 10/10 HC NH, but the same problems happened again, the quality players left the team for other servers due to progression being slow and I got suck at 3/10 M NH.
So granted from the perspective of pure progression kills you could say my record has been lacklustre but if you've ever been on a dead server you would understand. Also I'm a loyal person and I concede that I stuck too long in the respective teams if all I wanted was progression. The thing is that yeah, progression is important, but I don't think it is everything... feeling like you are part of a team requires being loyal and believing in your fellow team members.
Please list all the bosses you have killed when their raid tier was still the cutting edge:
(see optional template below)
No cutting edge achievement... see above for history. I've gotten Curve on Imp, Archi, Xavius, Helya and Guldan.
What sources and/or methods do you use to keep your class knowledge up to date? I use the Leaflet addon as I can now know optimal stat weights from historical boss fights. I also use this in conjunction with Ask Mr Robot premium as it will allow me to do 'what ifs' with gear in bags and it calculates stat weighting and handles gear equips. As much as possible I seek out videos and websites with the latest ideas around theorycraft (at the moment a lot of it is coming from the RDruid Discord Channel) and I also approach and ask for the advice of the world's best RDruids (having stalked them on Warcraft logs).
How do you prepare for a new bossfight? Watch YouTube tactic videos, read the Dungeon Journal and think about the fight... read website.
Why you are applying:
What are your goals in this game? I know I can do better than where I am. I want to push myself and find a team that will get Cutting Edge in each Tier.
What are the reasons why you specifically want to join Rock Paper Scissors? Having read up about the guild it sounds like the right place for me. I look back at where I've gone wrong and I think I should have looked for a team with a strong track record of clearing content to join before investing my time, loyalty and trust. Rock Paper Scissors has that strong track record that I'm looking for and aspire to raid to.
More about you:
Do you have any days or times you're unable to raid?: Being self-employed I have a lot of freedom.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself as a person?
Well I'm 36, a Dad and I'm a Partner at a firm in London so I'd say I'm a pretty mature guy... WoW is my hobby... and I love the teamwork, depth and difficulty that it offers. I would say the following about myself:
- I'm an excellent listener and communicator
- I'm self-driven constantly striving to improve myself and accept constructive criticism
- I'm non-elitist and I maintain a mature and respectful attitude at all times
- I'm a team player and understand that the team comes first
- I would say I'm skilled and able to play my class and handle raid mechanics
- I put in work to come prepared. I study each encounter and contribute to/read the forum discussions beforehand
- I take my team commitment seriously and baring RL reasons which I will flag as early as possible, I have a near 100% raid attendance
- My computer gear is reliable (Razer Orbweaver & Deathadder Elite) and I have a top of the line computer with a stable and fast Internet connection.
What is your proudest moment/achievement in WoW?
Well 2 times if you'll let me explain... I decided to try raiding at the start of WoD having been a real casual on/off player since Vanilla. I really didn't realise it but at the time I was in a dead end raid team that just wouldn't be able to get Curve. That didn't stop me and I pugged and pugged and pugged pushing and pushing until I got it. The next time was when I stepped into Mythic HFC. Up until then I was a great HC player but I had this image that Mythic raiding was impossibly hard and only for super hardcore people. Well I started pugging Mythic HFC and it was shocking how I was the top or 2nd top healer in the raid. That first M Hellfire Assault kill was another proud moment because it opened my eyes to what was possible and gave me the self belief that I was good enough to be a Mythic raider.
What is your /played? 150 days, 6 hours, 38 min; Time played on this level 71 days, 8 hours, 41 min. Mind you I've had 3 different WoW accounts (and my first one was Oceanic servers one before I moved to London and got an EU WoW account).
Anything else you would like to add or explain?
Thank you for the opportunity to apply. I know I have a lot to prove but if given a chance I won't disappoint.
